BeatCadence Terms of Service
Version: Interim version 2026-10-31 · In effect from: 31 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of BeatCadence, based in Australia ("we", "us"). They cover the BeatCadence website at beatcadence.app and the map generation service on it (the "service").
By signing in, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy; the sign-in button says so and links both. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Our Privacy Policy, Refunds and Cancellation page and Copyright Complaints page are part of these terms.
1. What BeatCadence does
BeatCadence turns a song you upload into a custom map for Beat Saber.
You choose a song on your device. Your browser converts it to an Ogg Vorbis file and uploads only that file. The page suggests a map title from the file name; you can change it before you start, and the title you choose is sent with the job.
Our servers run our mapping engine on the upload and make the map data (the note charts and map settings).
We send back the map data only. We never send audio back. Your browser puts the map data together with your own copy of the song to make the folder you load into the game.
We do not keep a library of your songs or maps, and there is no history page. Download your map when it is ready.
We delete your upload once your job ends. We delete the map data a short time after it is made. The Privacy Policy gives the exact times.
2. Who can use it
You need a Patreon account with a verified email address. You sign in through Patreon.
You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live.
The service is offered worldwide.
You must follow Patreon's own terms when you use your Patreon account.
3. Your account
Your BeatCadence account is linked to your Patreon account. One Patreon account gives one BeatCadence account.
A sign-in lasts up to 8 hours. You can sign out at any time.
Keep your Patreon account secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
Tell us at beatcadenceapp@gmail.com if you think someone else is using your account.
4. Plans, quotas and fair use
Free allowance. Anyone signed in with a verified Patreon email gets the free allowance. You do not need to join a Patreon tier. It currently includes:
3 maps each calendar month (the month is counted in UTC);
songs up to 5 minutes;
the default mapping settings. You can still choose difficulties, the title and the seed.
Paid memberships. Paid tiers are sold as Patreon memberships on our Patreon page. Each tier gives a monthly number of maps, songs up to 10 minutes, and access to the mapping controls (a few controls stay at their defaults while we finish them). Your monthly count resets on your Patreon billing date. The current tiers, prices and map counts are shown on our Patreon page and on the site. They may change.
What counts as one map. One song is one map, however many difficulties you pick. Unused maps do not carry over to the next month.
When a map comes back to you. A map is not counted if the job fails, expires, is refused, or you cancel it before a generator starts on it. A map is counted if it is made, or if you cancel after a generator has started. If your browser could not put a finished map together, you can report it on the page and get that map back, up to 3 times a month (see Refunds and Cancellation).
Fair use limits. To keep the service working for everyone, we apply limits. Today they are:
a cap on how many free maps everyone together can start each day;
a cap on how many jobs one account can start each day (cancelled and failed jobs count);
a pause on new jobs for an account after 3 jobs fail on a generator within 24 hours (failures caused by our own systems do not count);
uploads up to 80 MiB, and an upload that is much larger than its song length needs is refused (the map is credited back);
a bot check (Cloudflare Turnstile) when you sign in and when you start a map, and a short slow-down if many requests come from one network.
We may change these limits to protect the service. If a limit stops you, the page tells you why.
Payments, renewals and cancellations of memberships happen on Patreon. See Refunds and Cancellation.
5. Your audio: your responsibility
You may only upload audio you have the right to use this way. When you upload a song, you confirm that:
you own the song, or you have permission from the people who do, to upload it and to have a map made from it; and
uploading it and using the map does not break any law or anyone else's rights where you live.
We do not check who owns the songs you upload. If you are not sure you have the rights, do not upload the song.
If someone makes a claim against us because of audio you uploaded without the rights, you are responsible for that.
What you let us do with it. You give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, copy and process your upload only to make your map, check it and deliver it to you. This permission ends when we delete the upload.
What we will not do with it. We do not use your audio or your maps to train, test or improve our engine or any other AI system. We do not publish or sell them, and we share them only with the providers that run the service for us (see the Privacy Policy). We never send the audio back from our servers.
6. The map you get
The map is made by our software. It is AI-generated.
We do not claim ownership of the maps made for you. To the extent we have any rights in a map made for you, we give you a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, permanent licence to use, copy, change and share it for any purpose, including uploading it to BeatSaver (with its AI-generated label), and commercial use such as monetised videos or streams.
We do not promise that a map can be protected by copyright, that it is unique, or that someone else will not get a similar map.
The licence covers the map only. It does not give you any rights in the song. Your rights in the song are whatever you already have.
7. AI-generated content and BeatSaver
Every map we make carries a machine-readable marker that says it is AI-generated (_customData.beatcadence.aiGenerated: true in the map's Info.dat).
Do not remove or change the marker.
If you upload a map to BeatSaver or any other site, declare it as AI-generated. BeatSaver removes uploads that are wrongly declared as made by a person.
Do not present a BeatCadence map as made by hand.
8. Acceptable use
Do not:
upload audio you do not have the rights to, or anything unlawful;
try to get around quotas, fair-use limits, the bot check or the song-length limits, including by making many accounts to get more free maps;
scrape the site, automate requests, or use bots, except through the normal page;
copy, reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract our engine, models or code, except where the law allows it despite this term;
attack, overload, probe or interfere with the service, its servers or other users;
resell access to the service or offer it as part of another service without our written permission;
break Patreon's terms, BeatSaver's terms, or any law.
9. Not affiliated
BeatCadence is an independent service. It is not made, endorsed or sponsored by Beat Games, Meta, BeatSaver or Patreon. "Beat Saber" is a trademark of its owner.
10. Availability
We provide the service "as is" and "as available". We work to keep it running, but we do not promise it will always be available, fast, or free of errors. We do not offer a service-level guarantee. We may change, pause or stop parts of the service, for example to fix problems or to improve it. Map quality varies by song.
Nothing in this section limits your rights under section 12.
11. Suspension and ending
You can stop using the service at any time. To end a paid membership, cancel it on Patreon.
We may suspend or close your access, or refuse a job, if you break these terms, if we receive valid copyright complaints about you (see Copyright Complaints), if your use puts the service or others at risk, or if the law requires it. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why.
If we stop the whole service, we will give you notice on the site where we can.
To ask us to delete your account data, use "Delete my account" on the site, or contact beatcadenceapp@gmail.com.
12. Your consumer rights and our liability
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If you are a consumer, our services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. These include that we provide the service with due care and skill, that it is fit for any purpose we tell you it is for, and that we supply it within a reasonable time. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded. If you live outside Australia, you may also have rights under your local consumer law that these terms cannot take away.
Outside those rights, and as far as the law allows:
we are not responsible for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, or for indirect loss such as lost profits, lost data or lost opportunity;
we are not responsible for problems caused by the songs you upload, by your device, browser, game set-up or mods, or by services we do not control (such as Patreon or BeatSaver);
our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months before the claim.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the service or the law changes. We will post the new version here with its date. If a change is significant, we will give you notice on the site before it takes effect. If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, stop using the service and cancel any membership on Patreon.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. You and we submit to the courts of Australia. This does not take away any right you have to bring a claim in the courts of the place you live, where your local law gives you that right.
15. General
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours to someone who takes over the service, and we will tell you if we do.
